The weight so far without the motor and electronics is at 5.5 ounces. 1 more ounce to go when the motor , receiver and ESC are installed in the 1System Pod.
The foam is 1.5" thick pink insulation from the hardware. Weight could be saved by using beaded styrofoam from a craft store. It is easy to shape the foam with sandpaper. Then coat with white glue before misting with spray paint.
Panel lines were added before painting with a marker.
Dampen the foamboard with water and the paper peels off to allow the foam to curl for the radiator. The bare foam takes paint fine.
The wings weren't hard at all. First make the airfoil all the way across the wing before cutting where shown to form the gull wing dihedral. The wing joins are simply butt glued at the joins.
The model balances easily at the CG without added weight.
